John's Pizza

Johns Pizza BW
A New York City landmark. This is yet another black-and-white version of a color shot.

Is that the one in Times Square? The "no slices" place next to Carmine's? If so, I've been there and can attest to the excellent pizza they serve.

It smells great in there even in B&W.

No, this is in the Village--on Bleecker, I think.

the color is great but the B&W has, well, no pun intended REALLY, a nice bleak quality. OK so the pun was unavoidable.

Aha.

Then again, aren't there a number of competing pizza places with that same (or similar) name in New York?

Or am I thinking of another place, like maybe Famous Ray's? (I think maybe I am.)

Famous Ray's is the one with everybody claiming the name. The John's in the Village is, as I understand it, the original; it's unclear to me what the relationship is with the Time Square John's, but the (very slick) website for the Times Square one refers to the Village location as "our forebears".
