I used to backpack all the time in the high country, back in the day, but now I'm too paranoid of bear and cougar attack...have we encroached too far.

Beautiful shot!!!

Fabulous shadow. I have watched shadows cross buttes and mountains and think it's almost magical.

Stunning photo! I didn't even know that we had a Kings Canyon National Park over here in Oz. I'm sure ours isn't as impressive as that one anyway :)

Well, thank you for mentioning the fact that we have a Kings Canyon National Park in Australia. I now know that it's in Central Oz, so thank you for the geography lesson. Your Kings Canyon National Park is simply stunning and I'd love to visit it some day - after I visit our own, of course!

Now THAT'S a shadow. It's got the sun circling the wagons.

Thanks, y'all! This is one of my favorite lakes in the whole Sierra--tough to get to (several miles from the nearest trail), but well worth it.

And I had no idea there was a KCNP in Australia until a couple of years ago, when I was searching for "kings canyon national park" on Flickr. ;-)

Great shot. What a beautiful mountain.

Outstanding, not least because you've now successfully combined two of the genres you're known for: Shadow Shot Sunday Sierrablogging.

Well done!
