Pride Parade

Last Sunday was the 40th annual Pride Parade in SF. Here are a few shots I took that day... I've only uploaded a very small number to Flickr so far, simply because I haven't had the time to go through and process all of them yet. Maybe later this week...

Velhouette

Summer has officially arrived in the Northern Hemisphere. Time to get out and go for a ride; time to enjoy a brilliant Shadow Shot Sunday! While you're out and about, be sure to pay a visit to some of these fine photographers as well.

In My Neighborhood: Father's Day Feast

I Feel Terrible About Taking This

A somewhat controversial shot that I saw while on my way to work one recent morning. I hated that I was taking this guy's picture in what some might describe as an exploitative way, but I couldn't let this juxtaposition get by. And I absolutely wish that no one in this country -- on this earth! -- should have to live this way, but I also feel like this sort of thing needs to be documented.

I welcome any comments on the subject from our viewers.

We Love You Oakland

We Love You Oakland

I was in Oakland last Friday night for a photo show by some of my Flickr pals, and the cafe they were exhibiting in was across the street from the late, great Parkway Theatre. Damn shame about this place no longer being in business.

Robert and His Shadow

Robert and His Shadow

I saw this guy while waiting for a bus last week. He asked me about my camera, and we got talking a bit. I asked if I could take his picture, in large part because he was casting such a magnificent shadow. This will make a great Shadow Shot Sunday image, I thought.

I hope you and all these folks think so, too.

The Carnival Has Come to Town

Round and Round and Round She Goes

Just across McCovey Cove from the ballpark, a carnival midway is set up right now. Last Friday was the first night, and after the baseball game, Mrs. G and I walked over there to check it out and take some pictures. Here's one long exposure of the Ferris wheel. More below the fold.

Shadow Shot Sunday: Silver Silhouette

Silver Silhouette

In most parts of the world, Carnaval is celebrated on Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, the last day before Lent. Here in San Francisco, we wait for a Shadow Shot Sunday late in May, when the weather is nice. I'm sure most of these folks would approve.
