is it right in the center of Portland? I'm hoping to get up that way either later this month or next. Looks like the perfect spot after a feverish day of bookshopping! and will everyone be moving so fast that their just blurs? I certainly hope so!
It's right in the center of the old port area. Portland's weird -- there are a couple/few "center"s, but it's a very small city, as you probably know. Everything's pretty close.
A little more central to Portland overall is 555, which is maybe even better than Fore Street Grill. You can't go wrong at either place. But you will make me very jealous if you talk about it afterwards.
I mostly read fiction and travel writing. Not exactly deep stuff but I love Christopher Moore -- he's hilarious. I'm in the middle now of a saga by Hodding Carter (junior) who sailed a viking replica in search of Erikson's touch down point in the "new world".
Thanks for the Portland tips! It's one of my favorite cities to visit.
Oh, darn. I had visions of you perusing the stacks at some rare bookstore in one of those beautiful old brick storefronts down by the port. You were something straight outta Poe. Or at least Edith Wharton.
definitely Poe -- my husband jokes that, like a certain film character, I only read books with death in the title. another friend jokes that I only go on death themed travel -- ancient burial grounds in Scotland, various spots in Europe. Hey, we all gotta have a hobby, eh?

What kind of books are you after?
