Great candid shot. Was this part of Santarchy/Santacon? On Christmas Eve I had dinner at our friend P's (the traditional Sicilian Seven Fishes dinner she does every year, or as I like to call it, Seven Deadly Fins), and among the guests were two of the people who invented Santarchy.
Ooh, you so lucky! I'd love to meet the inventors of that strange and wonderful (and only in SF) event. I already have my costume for next year picked out. Sort of.
Yes, this was a Santarchy shot that I'd been meaning to see about making b&w, and had sort of forgotten about for a couple weeks. The color version is okay, but I think this is far and away the superior shot.
Also, too, a Sicilian Seven Fishes dinner sounds like heaven to me!

No longer only in SF--apparently it's now happening in 300 cities worldwide. Which kind of restores my faith in humanity. ;-)
And the dinner was heaven--topped off by Jody's Buche de Noel, which was a visual and gustatory triumph.
Excellent shot. You're right, the B&W version is much stronger.
Makes me nostalgic for Christmas already.
Excellent shot.
