ah, there used to be art everywhere. gotta say that's one thing I won't miss about communism -- overall nasty architecture and general Z worthy industrial design. While I was saddened by all of east berlin being razed after the wall came down, it's not as though anything of beauty was being taken out (for as much as I know, anyway). I know there can be beauty in anything BUT the apartment blocks in east berlin would be hard pressed to be anything but dull, dull and then some boring thrown in. ramble, ramble, ramble....

True about Berlin, but how about the Metro system in Moscow? Every station is like a museum, full of sculpture and other objets d'art.
Oh, and nice shot, tom!
Yeah, fascist architecture was pretty bad. But it did provide Pavement a title for a superb song.
I liked the title of this shot too. If only...
Oops, "Fascist Architecture" is a Bruce Cockburn song. The Pavement title I was thinking of is, appropriately enough, "Grave Architecture."
Worth a listen:

I've not been to Moscow....YET! A lot of cool subway stations in NYC. Love the old tiles.
Not familiar with either of those songs, Ahab. Merde!
