Travel Thursday: Point Arena
Had a lovely weekend up in Mendocino County (hence no Shadow Shot this week); here are a few images I picked up along the way. This is the pier at Arena Cove, where we stayed.
Coupla shacks near Arena Cove.
In the pier master's office there was a sign: "The two happiest days in a boat owner's life are the day he buys a boat, and the day he sells it."
House along Main Street in downtown Point Arena.
Hard times all over, but especially on the north coast.
Inside the lighthouse, on the way up.
And hey, why not just one obligatory Point Arena Lighthouse vista type shot.

Beautiful! I'll bet it was a great weekend up there.
As for boats, my father used to often repeat the quote, "A boat is a hole in the water into which you throw money."
Nice shots. Glad you had a good time.
Is Point Arena where you got the turkeys crossing the street last year?
As for boats, the only kind worth having are those you propel yourself.
"Sitting on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
I'm just sitting on the dock of the bay
Wasting time"
sitting on the dock of the bay is never wasted time.
lovely, really lovely
and SWEET composition on those stairs!
I was also digging the lighthouse stairs a whole lot. Nice shot.
Thanks! Glad y'all enjoyed them.
Ahab, the turkeys were in Tomales, which is also on Highway 1 but further south (closer to San Francisco).
