Wipeout

Wipeout
Yes, it's that magical time of year when San Francisco is blanketed with snow and people go skating on the frozen ponds.

Okay, not really. But thanks to the miracle of modern technology there are a couple of seasonal ice rinks, this one in Union Square. I didn't realize it while I was shooting, but I got this kid a second before he crashed; note the look of concern on the girl's face at right.

Shadow Shot Sunday is fun for all ages!

Oh, WOW, Tom! Talk about timing! The expression on both their faces is terrific although it's not fun to fall on the ice and I hope he wasn't hurt! Fantastic! Hope you have a great weekend! Thanks as always for your visit and comment! They're always greatly appreciated to someone who only took up photography a couple of years ago when I began blogging. I am really excited about being able to take a photography class at a local college in January!

The boy knows that the inevitable will occur, as we lose the battle with the powerful gravity. The girl sees the fall to be - and wonders if that too will be her fate. Fun with a hint of fear is wonderfully captured!

Interesting how you clicked the shutter just before the crash! :)

Thanks, y'all! Pure luck on the timing. And he didn't seem to be hurt at all--he had some trouble getting back up, but someone came by and helped him, and he seemed okay otherwise.

Sylvia, that is exciting--I've been toying with the idea of taking a class myself.

lovely night shot - and yes we too have a seasonal ice rink right in the zocalo in the centre of Mexico City - even though no-one can skate here!!

It looks like he already had an injured wrist. I think this may be a kid who pushes his limits.

Hmmmmm...I was white-knuckling it on the highway coming home from work this afternoon on that long black Iowa skating rink...those kids were probably skating faster than I was driving...eeeee!!!

Love the colours in this! Go skater boy! I'm glad to read that he didn't seriously hurt himself :)

Oh, geez! I was falling for that first line thinking, that SF doesn't get snow to support an ice rink! Sat here saying "huh?" to myself.
Great 'catch'!

That little, redheaded boy has a look of impending doom on his face too! hehe. Gotta love redhaired fellows and their daring. Great ShadowShot Tom!

The man's expression is also one of imminent disaster. At least the kid was giving it a go.
I like your shadows.
