Thanks, Cait. I've had good luck several times now photographing these flying geese by panning along with them and firing my shutter at 1/15 or 1/20 of a second. It takes what might otherwise be a mundane scene and kind of smooths out the imperfections while also providing a sense of movement and dynamism. I guess this technique would work with any moving subject but I find that geese are large enough and stable enough to track accurately. And the wing motion provides a nice dynamism intrinsic to the subject.
