Actually Niles Canyon Railway, but that doesn't fit the alliteration. Anyway, it turns out I did get a shot of Doug after all.

Gallery Show

My long-time friend Dave Dondero, resident artist at Moraga Art Gallery, has generously invited me to join him as guest artist for a show that begins January 16th and runs through March 23rd. The reception will be from 3-5 PM on Saturday, January, 19th. Please join us for the reception then if you can, or make a point to stop by some time during the show's duration.

Saw this while sofa hunting in the East Bay with a couple of my Flickr friends last Sunday. We were very successful!

See Your West: Niles

Niles is a cute little historic town over in the East Bay, sort of near Fremont and Hayward and Pleasanton. Niles Canyon is a great place for a Sunday afternoon drive.

Holiday Bowl

Seen on a drive in the East Bay with Mrs. G on Sunday. The actual bowling alley is closed down and for sale, but the sign lives on. For now, anyway.

Travel Thursday: Albany Bulb

A couple weeks back, I went to the East Bay to check out the Albany Bulb with my friend Larry, who lives in nearby Richmond. The Bulb is a wild area of landfill and overgrown bushes jutting out into the bay just north of Berkeley, strewn with broken pieces of concrete, metal and other detritus. There is a lot of graffiti and street art and sculpture there; also a fairly sizable population of homeless people. Here are just a few shots from that excursion. As is my wont, I took a few hundred pictures on our walk, and I'm still only about two-thirds of the way through processing them.
