The Man Behind the Martini

The Man Behind the Martini

On the bottom floor of my building, a bar that's been closed for a while is being renovated. I caught this worker standing in the shadows, and thought this could be a good Shadow Shot Sunday entry. (It could have worked for Martini Monday, too, but I didn't want to wait that long.)

I wonder if all these shadow shooters are as impatient as I am?

City Hall, Giants Orange

City Hall, Giants Orange

The San Francisco Giants are the 2010 World Series champions (maybe you heard -- it was in all the papers), and this city has not stopped celebrating yet. As a special added treat, they clinched the title on Mrs. G's birthday.

We're so happy!

Here's what City Hall has looked like at night for the past couple weeks -- although this particular shot was taken not long after the last out, and includes the dozens of cars that were driving past, with drivers honking their horns and passengers waving flags and rally rags and T-shirts and all the screaming and yelling and commotion that comes with winning a championship.

*sigh*

I'm so happy right now.

World Champions

Go Giants
For the first time ever, the San Francisco Giants have won the World Series. (New York Giants don't count, because really, New York? Blecch!, and also I don't think there was a World Series back then.)

Scenes from a World Series

The Sun Comes Out for Game 2

As many of you know (but perhaps not Tom, just because he's not tuned into those sports things), the Giants are in the World Series this year, and I am SOOOO loving life! Here are a few images from Games 1 and 2 for those of you who are interested in that sort of thing. Above, just before the game on Thursday, the sun peeked out of the clouds and shone brightly on the ballpark, which I took as a good omen for the hometown team. More below the fold...

Canadian Crossing

Canadian Crossing

Aboard the Black Ball ferry going from Victoria, B.C. to Port Angeles, Washington, and the passengers are in deep shadow, framed by the windows showing sunshine through the heavy clouds. It's a Shadow Shot Sunday voyage, and despite the rough seas, I wouldn't mind being there again right now.

A couple of no longer needed chairs sit in leafy shadows on a San Francisco sidewalk, just waiting for their star turn in this week's Shadow Shot Sunday extravaganza. Hey, what did other people bring to the party last week?

The Giants win the West! The Giants win the West!

After Friday and Saturday's losses, some fans were afraid that the orange Rally Rags would turn into Crying Towels come Sunday, but the team pulled out a 3-0 gem and defeated the Padres to win the NL West. Now it's on to the playoffs!
