Travel Thursday: Redding, California
Far as I can tell there are three things to see in Redding. Two of them are Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen, visible in the distance on clear days. The third is the Sundial Bridge. Designed by Santiago Calatrava, it's a pedestrian bridge over the Sacramento River; the walkway is translucent, and the whole thing is lit at night. (Alas, I was there during the day.) It's a beautiful design, and a very cool addition to a town that doesn't seem to have all that much else.
More info here, and more pics below the fold.

Wow, great bridge and nice shots of it. I think that last one might be my favorite. Really well done.
There's a famous footbridge like that somewhere in Europe. I haven't been there but I've seen killer photos of it. It's much longer and it has a rise in the middle. But I'll be damned if I can recall just now where it is located.
dramamine....pass the dramamine please.
It is kind of disorienting, isn't it?
The last one is my favorite too. And he's done a number of similar bridges, in Europe and elsewhere.
