Is that a cardinal? I really like cardinals (the real ones... the baseball and football ones, not so much). I remember seeing some all-red cardinals in Hawaii that were so bright red and beautiful they made you smile just looking at them.
Yes, it's a male Northern Cardinal. He's an absolutely gorgeous bird, as is his earthy-subtly-psychedelic-toned mate. Looks like this guy's recently molted into a glorious fresh coat, as he does twice annually.
