Hooded Mergansers
This shot is from last winter. This year's weather is so mild we haven't had much lake ice -- or many wintering birds.

The crisp, crystal color of the water and ice, in contrast to the browns and blacks of the ducks -- gorgeous.
What Donna said. Lovely shot.
That ducks head really quacks me up.
Seriously, fine work.
These ducks do like their water crisp and cold and clean. And they are the goofiest-looking things ever.
Not seeing many of them yet this year. I kind of miss them, unfriendly though they are.
