It occurred to me after posting that the red cast on my friend's skin together with my title my have been misleading. He's human. Italian and Philadelphian, but human.
Being up there is like being on a different planet. The night skies there are densely black. I go at the height of the Perseid meteor shower, when there are unbelievable numbers of shooting stars and just incredible numbers of stars in general. Unfortunately this year it was cloudy a lot of the time, and there was a near-full moon besides. Along with the quiet and the stars, throughout the night the freaky loons make their freaky calls and the owls hang and call back and forth in the trees. It's too cool for words.

That is all kinds of idyllic.

Looks idyllic. I'm green with envy.
Philadelphian, but human.
Is that even possible?
*ducks*
And Tom beats me to the word 'idyllic'...
