What I like most about this -- same as with the coffee cup and monument shots -- is that there's a lack of perspective that allows the image to be huge or infinitesimal, according to the viewer's eye. We have no way of knowing if this is big, little or in-between. It could be anything; there's nothing to anchor it to any sort of hard reality. It's that very ambiguity that I like best.
