    First time I ever saw the Jack Tar Hotel 35 years ago, I proclaimed it the Ugliest Building in San Francisco. (Of course, there's been a lot of building since then.) I won't miss it.

    Thanks. I should really have been shooting the razing of it every day; it's fascinating.

    And no, I won't miss it, either. I remember when it burned on New Year's Day in the '80s, and we slept through the whole thing.
