  1. The first thing that came to mind was "whatever happened to baby jane".
    sorry, don't know why.

  2. Nice. Looks almost like it was taken with a wide angle. Was it?

  3. Thanks. And, hey, George.

G(enerik), it is a wide angle -- a 10mm, which on my camera has an effective focal length of 15mm. Ultra-wide. The same lens on your Canon would be 16mm EFL. I was about two feet from the shrub and porch steps for this shot. It's a fun lens, I have to try and use it more.

Donna, this shot took me back, as I went to elementary school a couple of hundred yards up the street from here. It was a different world way back then. It's striking, the change. There used to be a bunch of conservative old white Protestant folks moldering away in these houses. Polite old ladies and such. Now they're old shells on a too-busy street. Today's old folks live in suburban ranch houses with about 2% the taste and interest but 200% less draftiness. This one appears to be owned and maintained (empty) now by the nearby library association. It would make a fine museum (of my childhood, natch).

  4. I've got a 10-20mm wide angle that I've been playing with a little more lately. The picture of the woman on the couch from two weeks ago was shot with that. I spent a few days shooting with that exclusively, just trying to see what I can and can't do with it.

  5. Generik, mine is a 10-20mm too. Sigma. Do we have the same lens?
